MOTORCYCLING FROM FATHER TO SON.

Motorcycling is a passion to be shared and transmitted. Young riders in the Red Bull Rookies Cup are supported at every race by a family member or friend. For many, it's their dad who follows them. We followed 15-year-old Finn Rico Salmela and his dad Tero during the French Grand Prix at Le Mans. From tension and support to fear and passion, discover their bond on the doorstep of MotoGP.

Motorcycling, it's all about transmission.

TERO AND RICO

Rico,'s father, Tero Salmela, was a supermoto and motocross racer. Rico started motocross when he was 3. He didn't think he could find anything more exciting, but at the age of 5 he started track racing and hasn't stopped since. His father devotes all his time to supporting Rico at his races. He is his greatest support. His mom and sister are in Finland, cheering him on from afar.

Rico's dreams are crystal clear: "I want to become the greatest motoGP. rider. My hero is Casey Stoner for his riding style. He's incredible. By the way, my race number comes from Casey Stoner, number 27."

Rico is currently 5th in the Red Bull Rookies Cup behind the 4 Spanish riders. Perhaps we'll see him again on a moto3 in 2024?

Thanks to Rico and Tero Salmela for their involvement in the project.
